Top-Ten Tips for Controlling Allergies in Your Home

Maintaining a healthy home goes beyond managing the temperature inside—especially if you suffer from allergies or respiratory illnesses. Controlling allergies in your home is directly related to the air you breathe. At Hobaica Services, we believe that maintaining your home’s indoor air quality is the best place to start in the war against allergies.

Here are ten tips you can use to help control allergies in your home:

  1. Regulate the indoor air quality. Installing an air purification system minimizes dust, dirt, pollen, dander, airborne mold spores, germs, viruses and chemical smells or fumes.
  2. Run your air conditioner to filter the air. Running the A/C helps ward off irritants and control the humidity. Dehumidifiers keep moisture at a healthy level, which helps allergy suffers breathe easier.
  3. Replace the filters on your air conditioner regularly.  This can not be stressed enough. Replacing the filters keeps dust, pet dander and other allergens from circulating throughout your home.  Filters should be replaced at a minimum of every 4-6 weeks to keep allergens from accumulating in your home.
  4. Install air filters to help eliminate dust from furniture and floor coverings. Again, replacing air filters is crucial to air quality.
  5. Place ventilation fans in bathroom, the kitchen and laundry room. Properly ventilating your home will lower the chances that irritants will accumulate.
  6. Bathe the family pet regularly so that allergens don’t attach to their fur.  It also helps to remove excessive dander from your pet.  Pet dander is a known allergen.
  7. Wash bath mats and tubs with hot water weekly. Mold likes to breed in warm, damp places, such as bathrooms. Running a ventilation fan when showering will also help to minimize mold.
  8. Keep your appliances free of crumbs and your sink free of dishes. This will deter mice and other pests from using your kitchen as a food source. Pests such as mice and roaches exacerbate respiratory conditions.
  9. Check that your dryer vents to the outside. Inside ventilation increases yet another source of irritation caused by the blowing particles of lint.
  10. Paying special attention to bedroom housekeeping can significantly reduce allergy symptoms.  Keeping fido and kitty out of your bedroom reduces the accumulation of pet dander that you are exposed to while sleeping, thus reducing your allergy response.

J. Miranda was so helpful and replied to our request right away! Called other places for emergency repair on our AC and they wouldn't be able to send someone for 3 days! Anyone who lives in AZ knows waiting that long is not an option especially during the summer! J. Miranda was friendly and took the time to explain what needed fixing. Will recommend! Thank you again!

Great guys to work with. Knowledgable, efficient, professional.A follow up concern we had about our new unit was responded to quickly & well. Nothing wrong with the equipment, but it was retested and we were educated more about our new system by our tech.

John and Jared came out today to take a look at my air conditioning unit. I live in a condo where I can’t see my unit but noticed some water dripping from the roof. They weren’t just on time, they were a little early which helped free up the rest of my day. They found that the system was running as it should be and let me know that the water was dripping because the condensation line was disconnected. Super easy fix with a little bit of glue, and they did not create worry where there was none just to add to the bill.As if that wasn’t good enough, they were incredibly nice and easy to talk to. Not nice because it’s required- just really genuine people. I was not expecting to have such an easy and inexpensive experience in Phoenix during hot, muggy monsoon season. Thank you both for making my day!

We recently had our air conditioning go out on Tuesday and on Friday a new unit was installed. The service has been fantastic. Could not have asked for a faster more friendly company.Zach and Gio were amazing in getting the unit installed and walking us through the new thermostat.

Grayson came out and was on time, and very nice. He took extra time to diagnose a potential problem, and even re-secured some wire mesh (to keep birds out) that had been blown off from the wind. He answered all my questions, will do business with hobaica again.
